Those of us, who grew up in 50s and 60s and before that, may remember that there were conscious efforts by the parents and teachers to make the children morally strong. There were preachings to that effect hidden in poems, stories and updeshas. My impression is that this emphasis has gradually shifted and the message that goes to children today is to rather be successful, earn a lot and enjoy life. Becoming morally right has lost its sheen.
